Career History

Tara Moore graduated from Queen’s University of Belfast in 1994 with a First Class Honours degree in Microbiology and in 1997 with a PhD in Immunology and Virology. Professor Moore undertook a number of post doctoral research fellowships within The Royal Group of Hospitals, Belfast, Mount Sinai Hospital, New York and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, Boston. Upon returning to Northern Ireland in 2001, Dr Moore took up a lectureship in Immunology with the University of Ulster in Coleraine.

Presently she is Professor within the University of Ulster and her research focuses on ocular surface disease and development of therapy through a personalized medicine approach. more

The Ocular Research group (please use team photo here) work in close collaboration with Professor Irwin McLean and his laboratories in the University of Dundee. Their research involves the optimisation of gene silencing for use in treatment or preventation of corneal dystrophy through a number of different methods of targeting the causative mutation combined with novel delivery methods in preclinical human models more
