Short Course : Scientific Communication in English

English is the global language of science and effective communication can only occur when there is an open exchange of information, ideas and opinions. This 12 week course gives students the opportunity to develop the necessary skills to successfully engage the global scientific community through a variety of media used to disseminate scientific findings. Topics explored include information mining in scientific literature and preparation of abstracts, posters and oral presentations.This course has been developed for those wishing to improve their written and oral presentation skills in the field of biomedical science. Applications for this module are therefore welcome from people with a background in life sciences. Distance learning offers students the advantage of learning at their own pace and preferred time. Teaching materials have been specifically developed with the distance learner in mind, ensuring access is straight forward and comprehensive, and enabling you to develop your academic qualifications within a UK centre of excellence without affecting your daily work.
