    NICHE has successfully competed for substantial funding from the Department for Employment and Learning as part of its cross-border research and development programme entitled ‘Strengthening the all-island research base’. The funding which is in the region of £1.2 million is aimed at building additional and sustainable research capacity in nutrition and bone health focused on identifying strategies to prevent osteoporosis. NICHE is a leading exponent in research in this area and will be working in partnership with Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin and University College Cork.


  • Ulster Leads Health Technology Drive

    The Clinical Translational Research and Innovation Centre (C-TRIC) was officially opened by Alastair Hamilton, chief executive, Invest NI

    Ulster researchers will use the C-TRIC facility in assessing one-third of participants in a 6,000 people island-wide survey (TUDA Study) which is being conducted by Ulster and universities in the Republic into ways of tackling osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s disease and stroke.
